Locating Biographies

 

Locating Special Archival Collections

Its easy to find archival collections online.  Run a Google search and make sure to include your topic, plus the words Archive, Archival, Special Collection, or Digital.  You can limit your search to a site domain such as .edu, .gov, or .org to find even more relevant results.

 

Locating Memoirs

Techniques for locating primary sources using the Catalog:

  • Combine keywords describing your subject with such words as sources, letters, speeches, writings, documents, diaries, papers, etc.
  • Search for key people as authors.
  • Find secondary sources on a historical figure in the Catalog. Scan the bibliographies of these secondary sources for diaries, memoirs, letters, and papers.
