This resource offers guidance, analysis, news, and primary source material on attorney conduct and legal ethics. BNA's Labor and Employment Law Library Law Access, Walk-In Access

BNA's Securities Regulation & Law Report Law Access, Walk-In Access

This current awareness resource analyzes federal and state developments in the regulation of securities, futures trading, and accounting. Coverage includes Congress, the courts, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and industry. There are summaries of selected No-Action and Interpretive Letters, full text of selected documents, interviews with key officials, and coverage of state developments.

Congressional Universe (LexisNexis) Law Access


Congressional Universe is a very helpful tool for legislative history research. Among other things, it provides access to the CIS Index, the full-text of bills, congressional reports and transcripts as well as the Congressional Record. Congressional Universe also contains bill tracking information, the full-text of public laws, the United States Code Service, the Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Library Law Access - Call Reference Office

 
This library offers Continuing Legal Education guidebooks, forms, and practice materials from the Minnesota State Bar Association. To access the materials, first obtain the access Code from a librarian (who will require proof that you are a student or faculty member at Hamline Law). Then go through the fast and free registration process to obtain your own login information. After you log in, choose the Library section, and go to the material you wish to view. Choose the Unlimited Downloads subscription option, and enter the Code in the special discount box.

Criminal Justice Abstracts Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

Criminal Justice Abstracts contains indexes and summaries of journal articles, treatises and governmental and non-governmental reports related to criminology.

Criminal Law Reporter (BNA) Law Access, Walk-In Access

This current awareness resource discusses news and recent developments in the area of criminal law. This classic guide also points to additional English-language introductory materials and to English-language translations or digests of specific foreign laws.

HeinOnline Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

HeinOnline is very useful for searching and accessing early issues of law reviews. HeinOnline's coverage is not as broad as some other databases, but it is increasing and is generally the only place to find the full-text of pre-1980 articles in electronic format. This database allows basic keyword searching and allows articles to be displayed in PDF (as an image of the print version) or HTML format.

Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals Walk-In Access

IFLP is available in print in the Reference section of the law library at call number K33.I38. Future editions of IFLP will be available only in an online database. With coverage from 1985, updated quarterly, IFLP is a multilingual index to articles and book reviews appearing in approximately 520 legal journals published worldwide. Scope includes public and private international law, comparative and foreign law, and the law of all jurisdictions other than the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. IFLP also analyzes the contents of approximately eighty individually published collections of legal essays, Festschriften, Mélanges, and congress reports each year.

Index to Legal Periodicals (Retrospective coverage back to 1908) Law Access, Walk-In Access

The Index to Legal Periodicals indexes over 800 law reviews from the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia. The original web-based version began in 1981 but now features ILP Retrospective with coverage back to 1908. In both advanced and basic search, you have the option to choose to search in original ILP and/or ILP Retro. If you don't see this option, click on "Open Database Selection Area." Selecting both ILP and ILP Retro will result in a search from 1908 until the present.

IndexMaster Walk-In Access

IndexMaster is a searchable collection of indexes and tables of contents scanned from legal treatises. Because this information is more detailed than the usual library catalog, a keyword search on IndexMaster will often give broader, yet more precise results. The indexes and tables of contents can also be viewed and printed.

JSTOR Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

JSTOR is a searchable collection journal back issues in the fields of general science, business, the arts and humanities. It does contain issues that are more recent than three or five years, but its coverage usually extends far back - even to nineteenth century issues. JSTOR displays digitized images of print versions of the journals.

This is a very helpful resource for finding the most up-to-date legal scholarship - including pdf versions of articles which have not yet been published. It is possible to register and subscribe to particular publications

LegalTrac (Legal Resources Index/Current Law Index) Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

LegalTrac has some full text and indexes over 800 law journals and newspapers. It also indexes law-related articles from 1,000 other business and general interest titles.

LexisNexis Academic and Shepard's Citations Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

This database offers a range of full-text information, including 1) U.S. Federal and state case law, codes, regulations, legal news, law reviews, international legal information, and Shepard’ Citations, 2) business news journals, company financial information, SEC filings and reports, and industry and market news, 3) national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources, 4) some medical/health news and articles, and 5) reference materials containing fast facts, statistics, and biographies. Law students and law faculty also have access to more in-depth legal information through LexisNexis for Law Schools (see below).

LexisNexis Congressional Universe Law Access

Congressional Universe is a very helpful tool for legislative history research. Among other things, it provides access to the CIS Index, the full-text of bills, congressional reports and transcripts as well as the Congressional Record. LexisNexis for Law Schools Law Access

This database is one of the two most comprehensive online legal libraries for the United States and offers many search enhancements. Hamline law students and law faculty with password questions should contact Megan Jens in the library.

LLMC Digital Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

This database has scanned over 7,500 titles, some 100,000 volumes, of interest to researchers in law and history. Its backfile is accessible on LLMC Digital and comprises the world's largest collection of legal literature and government documents in microform.

Loislaw Law Access - Call Reference Office for Registration Code, Walk-In Access

Loislaw offers a wide range of legal content and supporting materials, including up-to-date cases, statutes, rules and regulations, and other primary law for all 50 states and federal jurisdictions; treatises focused on practice areas, including Wigmore on evidence, Ginsberg and Martin on bankruptcy, and Price on estate planning; and public records. Note that some of the case law databases do not include unreported opinions.

Making of Modern Law Hamline Access, Walk-In Access

The database contains the searchable full text and facsimile page images of approximately 21,000 legal treatises and other works on United States and British law published during the historically significant period of 1800 through 1926. Invaluable to researchers of Anglo-American legal history, this resource breaks new ground in assembling previously inaccessible analytical, theoretical and practical materials, including scholarly treatises, casebooks, local practice manuals, books on legal form, materials for lay readers, pamphlets, letters and even speeches. Some covered subject areas are bankruptcy; business associations; business law; commercial law; constitutional law; criminal law; economic policy, public finance, and taxation; family law; general studies; “intellectual law;” labor and social welfare; legal education; procedural law; real property; and succession, estates and trusts. Part of The Making of Modern Law series, U.S. Supreme Court Records and Briefs offers the most complete, digital edition of Supreme Court cases for 1832-1978. The collection contains 75,000 cases and 200,000 primary source documents. It presents the background and context of the cases presented to the U.S. high court and contains essential primary source material on the major topics in American history.

Minn. Attorney's/Paralegal's/Secretary's eBook Walk-In Access (Req. password)

This is the online version of the print handbook for Minnesota legal, government, business and information professionals. This reference work lists basic information for judges, court fees, county officials, mileage tables, zip codes and other practical facts. The eBook is completely updated every January, but limited revisions occur throughout the year.

Minnesota CLE Materials (MSBA) Law Access - Call Reference Office for Registration Code

This resource offers Continuing Legal Education guidebooks, forms, and practice materials from the Minnesota State Bar Association. First of all, provide your Hamline Law identification to a librarian and obtain the CLE access code. Afterward click on Login, then Register Now, then non-attorney option. Follow the instructions to enter your information and save it. Click on Online Library, then Subscribe - Unlimited Downloads, then agreement to terms. Enter the access code (called "discount code"), click Continue, and begin searching by clicking on Search Online Library.

Minnesota Lawyer Hamline Access, Walk-In Access (Request password)

A weekly newspaper covering Minnesota's courts and legal community. Published since 1997. Both the weekly and the appellate courts editions for the last 6 months are available in print in the library.

Minnesota Paralegal Association Walk-In Access (Request password)

The site of the Minnesota Paralegals Association provides membership information, educational programs, its calendar of events, and legal resources links maintained by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA). Request password for access to "Members Only" material.

MnLINK Open Access

This is a gateway to the library catalogs of 450 Minnesota libraries as well as databases such as InfoTrac, OCLC WorldCat, selected newspapers, academic journals and general reference magazines in full-text and MULS (Minnesota Union List of Serials).
